Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has pinpoint issues that made it difficult for him at the club.
The German replace former manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer at the club but things didn’t go as planned for the Red Devils.
The club crashed out of the Champions League, suffered defeat from West Ham in the FA Cup and also struggling to seal Europa League spot for next season.
Rangnick, while speaking ahead of the final Premier League match against Crystal Palace stated that he didn’t have much time with the squad.
He added that he didn’t have the opportunity with the squad for preseason and were unable to travel due to Covid.
“Unfortunately I never had a pre-season with this team as I came in December, then we had the Covid issues and not even in those two weeks could we fly anywhere when we had no games for two weeks because there would have been too many players not allowed to fly to Spain or Portugal or Dubai.”
New Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag will take charge of the squad after the final Premier League game.
Rangnick believes the Dutch will have an advantage of taking charge of the team for preseason games.
“The good thing is that he can work from day one and from the beginning of the season. We also have to be realistic that the exception or rule when the manager comes at the beginning of the season and 70% of changes of managers come in the middle of the season.”
Rangnick also has his view on Everton fans pitch invasion saying: “I think it’s new, it hasn’t happened in the last couple of years, as far as I know, at least not in Germany. But it also happened in Germany on a couple of occasions in the last weeks and months so there seems to be unfortunately some sort of trend that this happens.
“It depends what’s happening but what happened yesterday at Goodison Park, I didn’t see it in person, if coaches or players of the opposite team are being involved… as long as they celebrate with their own team, everything is okay. As long as everything stays peaceful it’s also okay but other people getting involved with the opposite team, I don’t think that should happen.”
