Allegri believes Juventus deserve the loss
Massimiliano Allegri says Juventus should have approached the game against Sassuolo differently but insists they deserve the loss.
Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri says his side needs to keeping working hard following their defeat to Sassuolo in the Serie A yesterday.
Juventus fell to a second half goal as the Old Ladies lost all three points as they continued to pursue the top four spot in the league.
Following their defeat yesterday Allegri said: “We should have played a different game. The first half especially wasn’t good. In the early stages we were too static and didn’t attack the spaces enough. We could have drawn level after falling behind, but the defeat is deserved. In the second half, the changes led to a reaction, even if they weren’t enough. We would have liked and should have made a leap forward on the table, getting closer to the two Milan teams, but that didn’t happen.
“We have to keep working to improve because this was a good opportunity to further cut the gap in the standings. We have to improve our approach to the match and avoid losing concentration in the decisive moments of the match.”
Juventus defender Danilo stated that they are disappointed with the performance as they gave too much space to Sassuolo.
He further stated that they need to put all disappointment behind them ahead of their Europa League second leg match against Sporting Lisbon.
“We gave Sassuolo too many chances, and then we were no longer able to recover: other times we did manage to fight back, this time we didn’t.
“We’re obviously disappointed, we didn’t speak about it in the dressing room, but from Tuesday we need to put it behind us and be as strong as ever as a big game in Lisbon awaits us. Barbieri? He’s a good lad, but that’s not why he made his debut, that happened because if he deserves it. He really has a lot of quality.”
