Massimiliano Allegri insists the Champions League match against Benfica will not decide their fate in the group but the match is important.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri claims that the game against Benfica in the Champions League will not decide their fate in the group but insists it is important.

The Italian club lost their first Champions League group stage match to Paris Saint Germain in the Paris.

Juventus will host Benfica in their second group stage match as they seek to get their first win.

Speaking ahead of the game Allegri said: “Benfica as a club have an important European history, they are used to playing these games, they are made up of good players and have a coach who has given a lot of aggression.

“The race is not decisive but important. To get the win we need to have a compact performance and have few amnesia. When you fail to score, you don’t have to concede it.

“The team must not go into a state of agitation or anxiety. In matches you must not overdo it, you just have to do.”

When asked about his striker Vlahovic, Allegri said: “I have seen it well, he is improving, I am very happy with what he is doing. Of the international level players with less experience together with Haaland and Mbappé he is one of the best.”

Speaking about available players Allegri said: “We have recovered Di Maria, but I still don’t know if I will field him from the start. Szczesny may be available, I’ll find out after the press conference.

“Alex Sandro had an adductor problem on Sunday’s penalty, we’ll see if we can recover it for Monza. Locatelli and Rabiot are out.”
