Maximiliano Allegri believes his side were naive against Villarreal as Danilo claims they were not good enough in the match.
Juventus manager Maximiliano Allegri believes his side were naive in their Champions League defeat to Villarreal.
The Italian side crashed out of the Champions League after the suffered a shocking 3-0 defeat to Spanish team in the return leg of the game.
Speaking after the game at the Allianz Arena Stadium Allegri stated that they have o accept the bad result and also insists he can blame his players for it.
He further praised the opponent manager Unai Emery for the brilliance performance from his side.
“We played well for most of the match, we have to accept this bad result, we’re sorry. But I can’t blame the boys for anything: I congratulate Emery and Villarreal because they played a fair game.
“Their intention was to perhaps take the game to extra time or take advantage of certain moments, and they did it in the best way; we were a bit too naive.”
Juventus player Juan Cuadrado has no explanation for the defeat despite playing good football in the first half of the game.
He added that it was difficult for them in the game as they were unable to find the back of the net.
“There are no explanations for this defeat: we played a good first half, but not scoring a goal hampered us; football is like this, now we have to think about the championship; playing against these great teams is difficult, we knew it, we have to get up and turn the page quickly.”
Danilo admitted they were not good enough in the game and insists they should have score after going a goal down but instead punished by the Spanish team.
“A strange game? After a 0-3 it is difficult to say, the little things make the difference and it seems that we are looking for alibis. We weren’t good, after the 0-1 we had to score, and instead we were punished. We must apologise and immediately raise our heads, starting to work again from tomorrow.”
