In an enthralling Europa League encounter  at Anfield, Ryan Gravenberch left an indelible mark on Liverpool’s annals as he notched his debut goal for the Reds.

Ryan Gravenberch opened his Liverpool scoring account, propelling the Reds to a challenging 2-0 triumph against Union St.-Gilloise in a Europa League showdown at Anfield on Thursday.

Gravenberch, a notable transfer from Bayern Munich on the deadline day, etched his name into Liverpool history with a goal in the 44th minute. His opportunistic strike ensued when the midfielder capitalized on a rebound after Union’s goalkeeper, Anthony Moris, fumbled a potent long-range attempt from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Nonetheless, Liverpool struggled to break down their resilient Belgian adversaries, and it was only in the dying moments of the second half that the victory was sealed. Diogo Jota, the crafty Portuguese forward, exploited a swift counter-attack, displaying composure as he calmly slotted the ball past Moris from within the penalty area.

A notable missed opportunity marred Liverpool’s early momentum, as Darwin Núñez squandered a golden chance in the first half, side-footing wide from close quarters after an accurate low cross from the Egyptian maestro, Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool’s esteemed manager, Jurgen Klopp, candidly acknowledged that his squad’s performance left room for improvement, underscoring the need for further fine-tuning and consolidation.
