Amad Diallo claims that Interim manager Michael Carrick is backed by the Manchester United squad to land the permanent job.

Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo has become the latest Manchester United player to publicly endorse interim head coach Michael Carrick, stating that the entire dressing room would be “happy” to see the 44-year-old remain in the post next season.

Carrick, who took charge following Ruben Amorim’s departure in January, has overseen a dramatic turnaround at Old Trafford. Under his guidance, United have secured Champions League qualification with three games to spare, a feat capped by a -2 victory over rivals Liverpool last Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Amad emphasized the strong bond Carrick has formed with the squad in a short period. “Everyone is happy to have him as manager,” the Ivorian winger said. “He’s that manager who has a good relationship with every player. We will be happy if we have him next season.”

Amad’s comments follow similar praise from teammates Kobbie Mainoo who recently claimed the players “want to die for” the manager, Matheus Cunha and outgoing midfielder Casemiro have also voiced their support for a permanent appointment.

The rejuvenated winger highlighted a shift in the team’s psychological approach under Carrick and his coaching staff, including Travis Binnion. Amad noted that the fear of failure has been replaced by a collective accountability.

“The biggest change is the team is now more impactful,” Amad explained. “Every mistake is not a problem; your mistake is my mistake. We are a team that doesn’t care if you do a mistake, you go again. They [the staff] bring that kind of energy, and that is very important.”

While Amad has yet to register a goal or an assist under the new regime, Carrick has publicly praised his work rate and tactical discipline. The winger credited this individual support for helping him through “tough moments,” noting that Carrick is always available to offer guidance.

With Champions League football guaranteed, the focus now shifts to the United board as they decide whether to hand the former club captain the job on a full-time basis or continue their search for a permanent successor to Amorim.
