Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount will miss several games due to a minor muscle injury, adding to the club’s mounting injury list ahead of their crucial clash with Liverpool.

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has been sidelined for several games due to a minor muscle injury, the Premier League club announced on Thursday.

The 25-year-old started both of United’s league games this season but was substituted at halftime during last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, where he sustained the injury.

This setback adds to Mount’s challenging start at United, having signed from Chelsea in July 2023 for around £55 million ($72.48 million) and being limited to just 20 appearances last season due to multiple injuries.

Mount’s absence compounds the injury woes for United, with forward Rasmus Højlund and defenders Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia, and Victor Lindelof also ruled out ahead of Sunday’s crucial league game against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Mount’s previous season was marred by injuries, including a hamstring issue in August and a calf injury in November, which sidelined him for four months.

Despite working hard to regain his fitness during pre-season and feeling re-energized, Mount’s latest injury comes as a significant blow to both the player and the team.

Additionally, Mount was not named in interim manager Lee Carsley’s squad for England’s upcoming Nations League matches against Ireland and Finland, further highlighting his current struggles with fitness.
