Sportscliffs: Should Lukaku fight for shirt at Chelsea
Moving to Chelsea from Inter Milan Romelu Lukaku has suffer a dip in form and didn’t perform to expectation, should the Belgian stay at Chelsea and fight for shirt?
It was a tough season for Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea last season following his move from Italian club Inter Milan.
Lukaku joined the Blues in 2021 following a 5 year deal with a record fee of 97.5 million pounds.
Lukaku scored a rather disappointing 15 goals in all competitions from 44 games. Only eight of these goals came in the Premier League. He did not deliver an assist all campaign.
The Belgian had a fall out with his manager Thomas Tuchel when an interview with sky Italia before December came out.
The German coach stated that he did not like the decision of Lukaku because it attracted noise to the club then.
Tuchel stated in his then interview that the former Inter Milan striker did not speak with him before speaking with the press concerning is situation at the club.
Lukaku is now pushing to move back to his former side in Italy and he is willing to take a pay cut to make this happen.
Should Lukaku stay at Chelsea?
To be honest Sportscliffs believe it will be another bad spell for Lukaku if he stays back at the Stamford bridge club because he has not been able to perform to expectation in the Premier League with top club.
He also suffered dip in form when he played at Manchester United under Ole Gunner Solskjaer before he forced a move to Inter Milan.
He was in top form when he played at Inter Milan and this will be the best thing for Lukaku and even Chelsea as it will create more space for the club to sign a striker that can fit into the system of Thomas Tuchel.
And as for Lukaku Sportscliffs believe it will be a bad decision for him to stay at the club and fight for a shirt but rather move to a club like Inter Milan where he can perform better.
