Former Tottenham Hotspurs boss Harry Redknapp believes the club can still progress in the Champions League despite losing to AC Milan last night.

Tottenham Hotspurs has lost again and this time it coming in the Champions League following a 1-0 defeat by Italian side AC Milan at the San Siro stadium.

Following the game last night former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp believes Antonio Conte’s side can still make it to the next round of the Champions League.

He said: “The game is perfectly set up for the second leg and I’m sure Antonio Conte will feel they can turn it around with that crowd behind them.

“A full house, a great atmosphere, I would fancy Tottenham to get through in this match. Still a great position to be in, I’m sure they’ll still do it.”

Speaking further about Tottenham Redknapp believes the London club should give more chance to the young players in the team after Oliver Skipp and Pape Sarr impressed in Tottenham’s game against AC Milan.

“Sometimes you give the young players opportunity when you have injuries and you find out just how good they are. Sometimes as managers we are a bit loathe to give the young players a chance, you throw them in with a bit of adversity and a few injuries and they come up trumps.

“It as a good night in that respect, they proved they could do the job on a big stage and it’s got to be good for their futures and good for Tottenham.”

And on why managers don’t give younger players a chance, he said: “Big players come in, big transfer fees when there is a player needed in a position now, we tend to bring in foreign players.

“We don’t tend to give homegrown players the opportunities. When you look at the top clubs, they have great youth systems they have all these fantastic kids who come to the clubs at nine,10, 11 years old all the way through. What is the success rate? How many actually get to play in the first team? The percentage is so low.

“It’s such a waste of talent because they don’t get the opportunity, they don’t get believed in. The talent is definitely here as proved last night. Okay they have not come through the youth system but they’re two young players, give them the chance and show what they can do.”
