Chelsea have employed a new manager Graham Potter that will over see the team following the parting of way with former manager Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel who led the Blues to their second Champions League title on his debut season got dismissed following a poor performance this season.
The shocking news came after Chelsea lost 1-0 their opening match to a Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
In no time the new owner of the club Todd Boehly had to make a quick move for the Brighton manager Graham Potter.
It is revealed that Chelsea will pay the sum of 20 million pounds as in compensation to Brighton for hijacking their manager.
Potter, a manager who have help build the Brighton team since his arrival is know for his attacking style of play similar to Tuchel’s philosophy.
The new Chelsea manager was on the radar of Manchester United when the team was seeking to replace their manager before the club later move for Erik Ten Hag.
Potter is one of the most exciting coaches in the game, starting his journey in Sweden before bringing his talents to the English game over the past four seasons. The 47-year-old is educated to degree level in disciplines beyond sport and has combined these experiences to forge a collaborative, forward-thinking approach while developing attacking and winning football.
That has been in evidence during his time at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he achieved that club’s highest-ever league finish last season. Along the way, he earned praise for his winning brand of football on the south coast, while proving flexible in tactics and formations to be a step ahead of opponents.
In his first two seasons in charge at Brighton, he helped the club avoid relegation with 15th and 16th-placed finishes, all while evolving the style of the play and philosophy followed throughout the club.
Potter slowly moved the style of play on the pitch away from that and made Brighton a team comfortable in possession and able to create lots of dangerous chances, a style of football that has been deemed ‘Potterball’ by many Brighton fans.
One reason Potter is able to get his team to dominate is his flexibility with tactics and system during a match. The team may start off with a back-five, but this will change throughout the game.
Potter will use his wing-backs to push up the field and allow the wide forwards to move centrally. The manager will also be happy to see his team play long balls in order to beat the opposition’s counter-press.
Potter’s style of play would suit the players currently in the Blues roster, which under Thomas Tuchel were set up to play with wing-backs.
Potter also has the ability to spot incredible players in the market and them put them to use in his squad.
He is such an incredible coach who has proved himself and needs a top team like Chelsea to show case his ability.
With the Graham Potter style of play and discipline that he has shown so far at Brighton, he will definitely become a success at Chelsea if he is given the time and resources.
