Graham Potter has been told to reintegrate ‘goal machine’ Romelu Lukaku back into the Chelsea squad despite his fitness issues.

Chelsea manager have been told to bring in former striker Romelu Lukaku who is on loan to Inter Milan as the Blues struggles in from of goal.

The Belgian striker is on loan at Inter Milan, where he scored the winner in Wednesday night’s Round of 16 first leg tie against Porto in the Champions League.

Injuries have limited the 29-year-old to just 14 appearances this season, with club director Beppe Marotta suggesting that the former Everton star is overweight.

But Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand said: “If he can get back fit again, this guy has proven he is a goalscorer, simple as that.

“I think new manager, give him a chance. I think he’s got no-one in there that he obviously trusts at the moment.

“[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang isn’t even in the European squad. This guy is just a goal machine, he just knows how to score.

“Okay, he’s not fit, he’s carrying a bit more weight than normal – or what he’d like, and what the club would like.

“But he still comes on and scores two goals in the last two games.”
