Premier League managers are concern with the fixtures with the high rise of corona virus cases.

The Premier managers are concerned about covid 19 effect on the Premier League as clubs lose players to the virus.

Most Premier League clubs are due to play three times between Boxing Day and January 2 and there are fears more games will be postponed because of rising Covid cases.

There would also then be an increased workload on players who are available to play in games that go ahead and there is also a real fear among clubs that they will soon have to go back to playing games without fans.

Premier League managers and captains are also due to hold separate meetings.

So far, the league has been considering applications for postponements on a case-by-case basis but there has been criticism over the decision process.

Chelsea were unhappy a request to postpone Sunday’s Premier League match at Wolves, which ended 0-0, was rejected despite their seven positive cases.

The Blues boss Thomas Tuchel said: “We were put in a huge risk of health and safety to the players, not just because of Covid but also physically. I’m not sure if I’ll catch Covid. Hopefully, I will not catch it.”

Klopp, who had previously voiced his opposition to a proposed ‘circuit breaker’, argued the league needed to reconsider its Christmas plans.

“We’ve played Wednesday, Sunday and now Tuesday, it’s not possible – we don’t have the players. It can happen we might have another case or two so players will have to quarantine,” Klopp told Sky Sports after his side’s pulsating 2-2 draw at Tottenham.

“The 26th and the 28th – it’s really not possible. We would prefer to play but we need help with the fixtures. The big thing we all have to talk about is if we can carry on or not, but if we carry on we can’t carry on like usual.

“If we don’t play anymore and we have a break, I’m fine with that too. They said before corona that we were a bit busy. And now corona gives us a proper punch and tells us we can’t carry on like this.”

According to Talksports Pep Guardiola had his say on the current situation in the Premier League with coronavirus.

He said: “I don’t have an opinion on that. What the doctors, scientists or Premier League, whoever takes a decision I will support 100 per cent.

“It’s not a problem for the Premier League, it’s a problem for society. I see the people are the streets, nobody with masks, nobody social distanced, so that’s why it is going to happen sooner or later.

“Nobody protect himself or the family. So they tried to create a good environment for our people, our players, the staff and backroom staff to realise the dangers is still already here.

“You have to be alert. We have to try it. We know it is not easy because it is not a problem for the Premier League or the football world, it is a problem worldwide that is still out there.

“The virus is still out there, the new variant is there and what the Premier League is going to decide we will support.”

Mean while Sportscliffs reported that Tottenham crashed out of the Europa Conference League as game against Rennes was forfeited.

The game against Rennes was due to be played on December 9 but was called off after Covid 19 outbreak in the Spurs team.

The UEFA has stated that the game will not go on and the London side crash out as the recent ruling sees Spurs lose 3-0 to Rennes via forfeit.

Spurs also saw Premier League fixtures against Brighton and Leicester called off as the surge in Covid cases among squads continues to affect the calendar.
