This weekend all across Europe there are drama, dominance and rivalry in the world of football.
England: Premier League
This weekend saw some pulsating rounds of matches from the Premier League, with some thrilling results to boot:
Tottenham 1-2 Newcastle: Newcastle pulled off a hard-fought away win over Spurs in the early kick-off to show their growing strength.
Aston Villa 2-1 Leicester: This was another great afternoon in the sun at Villa Park for the hosts as they managed to pip Leicester in a closely contested match.
Bournemouth 1-0 Everton: Bournemouth secured an important win in their relegation battle and plunged more pressure on Everton.
Crystal Palace 1-1 Chelsea: Chelsea’s inconsistency was on full view again as they could only manage a draw against a spirited Palace side.
Manchester City 4-1 West Ham: City were at their clinical best, tearing apart the Hammers at the Etihad.
Southampton 0-5 Brentford: Brentford pulled off the shock of the weekend with an emphatic win over Southampton in a real attacking masterclass.
Brighton 1-1 Arsenal: The late kick-off saw Arsenal drop points as Brighton held the Gunners to a dogged draw at the Amex.
France: Ligue 1
Ligue 1 witnessed dramatic wins and battles that shaped the table:
St Etienne 3-1 Reims: A convincing performance from St Etienne left their fans pleased.
Lille 1-1 Nantes: Both sides drew honors in a cagey affair with neither side capable of finding the winner.
Lyon edges Montpellier 1-0 to keep the European ambitions of the former alive. Angers keep their comfortable lead to strengthen their position in the league with a 2-0 win over Brest. Lens was in for a surprise from Toulouse with an away win, 1-0. A dominating Strasbourg ensured mid-table safety with a 3-1 win over Auxerre.
Marseille 5, Le Havre 1: Marseille turned on the magic at the Velodrome, leaving little in doubt about their quality.
France: Super Cup
In the standout match, PSG beat Monaco 1-0 to give them the Super Cup thanks to a professional job and that all-important goal.
Italy: Serie A
Serie A had its fair share of drama and tactical battles:
Venezia 1-1 Empoli: A stalemate saw both teams take a share of the spoils.

Liverpool 2-2 Manchester United: Drama and fight encompassed the North-West derby between these two behemoths on an eventful afternoon. By this weekend, the football action had been nothing but brilliant, filled with results that stood out to shape up the different leagues and various competitions in spectacular goals, some classy defending, and pure rivalry.
